Geekfest at Sunrise Mountain Library Today!

The award-winning Falcons Robotics Team #842 from Carl Hayden High School which originally made up of four boys who won a national championship against MIT 10 years ago. The current team will be dedicating their time to promote STEM education. The Sunrise Mountain Library will be hosting GeekFest 2014 as an example of a program designed to get the youth excited about science and math – the program will discuss the science of roller coasters and controlled robotics.

Peoria Program Designed to have Police Officers check on you Home while on Vacation

The Peoria Police Department has designed a program that has police volunteers check on you home while you are away on vacation or business. Peoria citizens can now be placed on a “Vacation Watch” list to ensure that you home is watched for up to 30 days. The volunteers officers will walk around your home to see if there is anything unusual or apparent damage. City of Peoria Widening 91^st Avenue – Road Construction

The City of Peoria will be doing some construction on 91^st Avenue – the construction team will focus on widening the road between Butler Drive and Carol Avenue so that the road includes two lanes in each direction. The construction is not planned to completely terminate until this winter; no official date has been given. It is important to note that there will be traffic delays and near construction zone. Mazda Turbo Rotary Roadster

Mazda revealed information on one of its latest development projects – Mazda will be adding a twin-scroll turbocharger setup to a new RX model – this vehicle will increase the vehicle’s output to 450 HP. The previous RX-7 model was capable of delivering 300 HP from its rotary unit, however, now Mazda will mix things up by ditching its predecessor’s Miata-based platform. Preparing for Babysitting Responsibilities

The City of Peoria is hosting a workshop that will prepare you for the responsibilities that go along with caring for infants and children – the class will also teach basic CPR and first aid techniques that are closely tied with safety practices. The registration fee will include a workbook and babysitting safety certification card for those who pass the course.
